Happy 150th Italia!
Today, Italy celebrates its 150th birthday. La “Bella Signora” turns 150 and after having informed our readers about the official celebrations and the origins of the Italian Anthem, we thought it would be a great opportunity to learn how to wish Happy Birthday saying Tanti Auguri ITALIA!

The Song of the Italians
What we all know as the “Mameli Anthem”, named after his author Goffredo Mameli, was written in Genoa in 1847. The Ligurian patriot was only twenty years old and he called his anthem “The Song of the Italians”. The music was composed in Torino by another Genoese, Michele Novaro, a musician who was just as committed in the cause of indipendence.
The anthem was adopted enthusiastically not only during the Risorgimento but also in the following decades, and on 12th October 1946 it was chosen as the national anthem of the Italian Republic.
